After re-reading my birthday post – and squirming a little at my earnestness! – I decided to show you that we actually had a real hoot at my recent birthday party! And I received some beautiful presents from my family, aside from mountains of patchwork fabric.
Mum had worked for hours to make everything beautiful …
Grandad was in high spirits …
Aunty Cate could not stop laughing – maybe it was because of the outrageous things Nanny was saying – provoked, of course, by Uncle Mick!
And I got to blow out my candles with my cousin Hannah whose birthday is the day before mine …
And look what my lovely family gave me … My Mum gave me her silver egg cup set – the egg cups sit on little spikes so as not to fall over when being carried. I have coveted it for many years …
Nanny and Grandad presented their birthday cupcakes on their lovely Lotte cake plate – which they then gave me to keep …
And Aunty Cate and Uncle Mick gave me a beautiful Austrian tablecloth they had bought in the 1980s for Nanny (but Grandad had bought the same one!) whilst overseas. It’s known in the family as the Lotte tablecloth
Aren’t they the nicest kinds of presents – ones that have been loved by the people you loved.
