bescarfed
2010
One may be beribboned, so I hereby delare that one may also be bescarfed. Today, Abby and I are bescarfed :-)
After a long night’s knitting – jolly good thing too, otherwise I would never have watched a fascinating program on the ABC about the Moorish/Islamic influences on medieval Spain – the school scarf is finally finished.
It’s just a simple rib – yet I must confess, there is the odd mistake here and there – 2 knit, 3 purl, 2 knit, 3 purl then 3 knit, 2 purl, 3 knit, 2 purl. Did I keep this straight in my head? Not always – but no mind, it looks fine and is scrumptious cosy so that’s what counts.
Me – well, I’m in the throes of a vintage headscarf fetish. Started last year when a dear bloggy friend gave me a copy of Heather Ross’ Weekend Sewing. But lately, I’ve found myself smitten with the “real” thing. Mmmm … I especially love them when they’re thick and silky with a funny old embroidered label that declares the scarf was made in British Hong Kong or Japan. Thrift stores and the Camberwell Trash and Treasure are my suppliers – Trash and Treasure better than the thrift. Most of the thrift’s scarves are from the 1980s and that’s a bit too close to the bone for me!
And since my ears aren’t covered and my scarves are tied at the back, under my hair and not my chinny-chin-chin, we can safely assume I’m not striving for the Queen Elizabeth look! We can, can’t we? :-0

Gorgeous knitted scarf, you are very clever. I bet your daughter loves it!
I love scarfs. Love htem. Yours are darling.
The knitted scarf is beautiful in that blue. Love the simplicity of the pattern too but I’m not sure how simple it was to knit as I have zero idea about knitting ;)
The vintage scarf is looking so sweet on you :)
Very glam and not at all like our Queenie!
look at YOU!!! you are just beautiful my friend!!

the blue knitted scarf is gorgeous. i love my k2p2 rib scarf best on chilly days, though it is in the 90′s (Farenheit) here. your vintage headscarf is also beautiful. my short curly hair is now growing out to that unsightly middle length, so i’ve dug out the one sad bandana that i have. i’ll have to hit the secondhand stores to scrounge for a good scarf.
thank you for your sweet comments on my blog. i enjoy reading your blog and seeing what is happening in your house, town and hemisphere :)
