hetta … another one!
2012
I’m a bit smitten. Yep, today saw the stitching of another wee dolly. I didn’t even make it past the kitchen table.
Doesn’t she look like Audrey Hepburn in the Nun’s Story when Audrey had her wimple on but no veil! And those red french knots … didn’t like’em. They all came off minutes after I finished putting them in.
Without further ado … here’s Hetta’s winter afternoon photo shoot. I think she looks like a young version of Strega Nona. I expect that she’ll be whipping out her magic porridge pot tomorrow morning.
Log – courtesy of neighbour who recently had a very large tree chopped down – we have several chunks – I’m sure we’ll find a use for them :-)
The glimpse of a brown table at Hetta’s feet – a hard rubbish find yesterday – cedar turned legs with apron but no top. I’m thinking reclaimed floorboards so that it looks like this.
And finally, the espaliered tree in the drive. It catches the afternoon sun so beautifully at this time of year.

:: sigh :: I suppose I should tidy up the kitchen now. Hmmm …. maybe I’ll just choose some colours for the next wee girl.

But…what is the story behing Martel? Thanks for welcoming me back and yes it was very very dark!
Aha! Turns out the original Martel is a butt-kicking, tattoed half snake-half woman character out of a Japanese manga Abby has read! Nice huh :-) Just like my wee crocheted and felted doll!
Just stumbled across your blog – love the doll! She is so charming and your color choices are lovely.
