getting there

with patchwork

~ and still I stitch, one little red figure after another,
first band finished, second started, feeling rather impatient,
but oh, they look such jolly folk ~

making monkey bread

monkey bread

~ monkey bread … an easter treat
for the little girls …
they were amazed they had lived ten years without it ~

naptime

frozen dinner

~ after sleepless nights and endless writing,
I stole an hour between classes and babysitting for reading on the bed,
& made the most of those frozen dinners ~

calculator and christmas pudding

~ panicked hunting for the dinky calculator,
essential for the next day’s drugs calc exam,
led me to both calculator & a forgotten darrell lea christmas pudding!
perfect for soothing pre-exam nerves & a sure sign that I would pass ~

rediscovering favourite books

~ this is why I will never throw away a single picture book,
no matter how old we grow ~

the back

~ sometimes the back is just as enchanting as the front, don’t you find ~

hot cross buns

easter

~ four days of hot cross buns – oh yum ~

  1. My daughter woke up this morning, shouted “EASTER!” and ran to the next window to sit and watch for the easterbunny.
Then my son came up to her, and said “If you wait for it it’ll never come, you know.” So now they’re watching telly instead and as soon as I’m feeling awake enough I’ll sneak the bunny presents out of my window as per usual. Good thing he lured her away, my window is right next to the window she was watching out of :-D

YAY for exams that are over!

  2. Hello Lily
How lovely to be back at my screen enjoying all the goodies you dish up at Block-a-day. How I’ve missed your your lovely writings. Love the redwork but especially love that grey cushion. I’m off now to google Monkey Bread. It looks scrummy. Enjoy the rest of your Easter break. It has just started to rain here but fortunately the Blessing of the Fleet Festival which was down the highway and not too far from us had a lovely sunny and not too hot day. Hope your weather has been pleasant for you this weekend after all those hot days.
    Blessings Gail

    1. Gail, don’t tell on me, but I sometimes chat and use those canned Sunday breakfast rolls instead of making my own dough (I cut them into two or three pieces each though)… Basically you want to roll them in a sugar butter mixture (I add cinnamon, no clue if I’m supposed to), pack them tightly into a baking dish, bake till done, and then you can pull off the individual pieces and it’s OMG delicious.

  3. I wonder is that my Christmas pudding? So many times have I been tempted to eat your Easter egg,
    Yummy looking bread!
