:: finally, I’ve cracked the homemade digestive!  Wholemeal and oats, a hint of sweetness, thin and crisp.  Next time I’m adding poppy seeds, black pepper and rosemary.  Julian says if I insist, I’ll have to bake two batches ’cause he’s happy just the way these are.

:: Sweetpea’s gardening.  I suppose we really were asking for it, leaving the wheelbarrow full of hay in the back garden.  Now 1/3 of it’s strewn across the lawn.  I kind of like it – makes me feel wonderfully rural.

:: lugged the dresser to the front porch – less wind, more sun, less debris.  Last coat done.  Tomorrow it will be out to the sewing shed with you, sweet dresser.

:: what should I do with my lavendar?  It’s smothered in flowers – and abuzz with sweet bees.  If I pick it now, will more flowers grow?  Hmmm … if you know anything about lavendar please do tell!

:: mulched the basil – I bought ten wee plants – might get ten more – it’s surely not possible to have too much basil?  What we don’t eat each day will make wonderful pesto.

:: look at this!  wee tomatoes!  We’re hoping to build some raised beds out of pallets (thrifted from the roadside of course – already got two waiting) for our sun soaked driveway and there will be a whole bed devoted to tomatoes – with basil and marigolds tossed in as well.  We’re hoping for a serious tomato harvest this year.  I want to eliminate as many shop bought tins of tomatoes from our larder as possible – the food miles are hideous.

:: and these wee flowers – they belong to our second year raspberry canes.  egads!  does this mean we may have a handful of raspberries this year.  This needs some serious research.  Berry growing seems to be some form of alchemy.

:: and I’ve re-hung my chicken teatowel curtain from our long ago house in Norman Park.  I found it last week in a box in the garage – it’s so warm and cheery, and just made for glowing in the daylight saving / late afternoon sun.  And those chickens … well, there will hopefully be some more realistic versions doing their thing in the back corner of our garden very soon :-)  Oh my goodness – I do declare there is such spring excitement here in Bootville.
