shining sun + day off + needles & thread = fish
2010
What to do when the sky is a clear blue and the toffee warmth of the sun has lit every corner of our garden?
Hang out the washing … mmm! Sunshine fresh is so much nicer than torpid hallway.
Swoon over the frantically flowering camellias and fill yet more jam jars for the kitchen table.
Drive the girlie to school so as to pick up this lovely branch, torn from a tree, that has been lying in a puddle of mud for the last week, and set it to dry against the warm bricks of our home. Julian will love it ;-0
Then settle down to slowly toast in this winter warmth with a cup of tea …
a basket of felt …
a clutch of scraps …
and stitch some fish.
Yup! My branch is sprouting fish. Three down, 18 to go. Mmmmmm … this has indeed been an exceptionally good recipe. Hope there’s some lovely sun warming your heart today :-)

What a lovely idea! Can’t wait to see your little fishies completed!
Love the fish!!
And the cup!
Beautiful pictures…the sun in Wintertime is a delightful thing!
?
Oh no! These are precious! I was thinking of making something quite similar on a smaller scale for the wee girl on the way, but yours are of course brilliant! I can’t wait to see them all swimming off the branch.
And that mug – i love it!
love love love the fish. I do feel a teensy bit sorry for Julian because I know what my husband would say if I presented him with a large branch as new home decor ;)
I love fish! Real live fish, decor fish, painted fish and ESPECially….sewn crafty fish!! What a beautiful idea. I can’t wait to see this finished.
Crazy about your fish!!
Love your beautiful pictures.
I added your blog to the homemade holiday list – hope that is ok.
Warm wishes,
Tonya
Your fish-ies look cute!
How sweet! Looks and sounds like a wonderful day — that sun. I can almost feel the just-enough-warmth of it (as opposed to baking hot). I thought maybe you were going to hang Japanese lanterns from your branches. But that wouldn’t explain the fish. :-)
