snow blossoms …

… what wishful thinking, as I stand here melting in Brisbane’s dripping February heat!  Oh but these beautiful, honey yellows have me swooning …

And snow blossoms they are!  It’s a wall hanging - for above our bed.  Julian wants a fresh room full of light and serenity which sounds good to me, so we are having a bit of a transformation.  Our bed frame is being powder coated antique white (it’s an old fashioned metal bed frame), I’m still working up the design for a largely white quilt with hints of yellow scattered around (which I am going to have machine quilted by a lovely woman from the quilters’ store so that it gets DONE!), there are new pillowcases to be made (good thing I LOVE making pillowcases), we are hanging white and yellow striped curtains and this will be the bed’s crowning glory - I hope :-)

I’m almost finished sewing on all the yo-yos - I’ve used small, and extra small.  And the tree trunk is made from gros grain ribbon that is appliqued on to the quilt.  Boy has this been time consuming.  And let me tell you how lovely it is having a thick, warm quilt laying across my lap on sweaty, humid nights.  Hmmm…. But I’m hoping to have the wall hanging and pillowcases ready for Julian when he returns from Dubai next week as a belated birthday present (it was yesterday).  Stitch, stitch, stitch.

Oh and here’s the puppy update photo - she has a new nickname - Bita-baby.  She sees our feet and I swear, she imagines eating an apple.  A big crunchy one that she wants to eat it two bites.  And she just opens that little mouth with its razor sharp spikes, I mean teeth, and hunh!  Ouch!

I love how warm it looks. I am sitting here with three layers on, in -7 celsius and dreaming about warm sunny day. I can’t wait to see the whole thing.
    Ouch…those puppies.

I love the white with the golden colours, I look forward to seeing the finished piece.

We have a new puppy as well, so I hear you about the feet. Our puppy is so small that feet are the only thing she can get to.

The new bedroom colors sound divine. Those extra small yo yos are so tiny, aren’t they? Sorry it is so hot! I hope there is sweet puppy breath to go along with those sharp teeth.

I love those yellows! With the lovely little small yo yos. Ahh, a sleeping puppy. So cute! Almost makes you forget the sharp little teeth.

I love your yo yo’s. All that time stitching was worth it! And may I just say, that is the cutest puppy!

So much looking forward to seeing your wall hanging - how bright, pretty and cheery! Your puppy - so innocent - he will learn to behave!
    Hugs - Lurline?

It must be a yellow kind of week, I think. Everywhere I look is yellow. I have been sewing a skirt this week - from a preloved yellow floral sheet. Your wall hanging looks very interesting; I love the yoyos. I really need to get one of those thingies!

How have things been going? The puppy looks so sweet :)

Your wallhanging looks like it will be just beautiful. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Wish it was hot here! It’s only 4 a.m., but day two of snow. Wouldn’t your puppy have fun romping around in that?

Dear Lily! The quilt looks beautiful. Snow Blossoms, how poetic! Should we not have a swap country day? Then you could hop with the pup in the dancing snowflakes outside my window, and I could make you some more yo yos… Cannot wait to see the quilt still in your thoughts. Sounds so serene. Love, Una

When we got our kitten Maxwell he was always awake during the night wanting to play so he found my feet under the covers and would bite down hard! I wore one bedroom slipper with the other foot tucked under it for 4 months until he grew out of it! I’d swap out the shoe when I turned over and tuck the other foot under!

    So cute!

I was also about to ooh and ahh over the quilt - and then I hit the picture of your pup. Completely and utterly gorgeous. I love how they zip around the house and then suddenly - crash1 - they’re asleep. Sigh!

I’m in love! That puppy is just so adorable. Bring on the pictures!
But I was really set to comment on that lovely quilt - all those wonderful yellows together will fill your bedroom with sunshine! And all those white yo-yos go so well with it.
I’ve been making yo-yos too the last couple of nights - I caved in and bought some of those yo-yo maker thingies - they are great, aren’t they?

Lots of yo-yos! It’s going to be so pretty.

Such a darling puppy! It must be your fault for having delicious feet.
