This is cute – I read it over at Persnickety and thought it might be fun – the Lily Abcedarius.

And besides, I can take this opportunity to show you all the quilts from the Treasury of American Quilts that I must make before I die.

maybe just one

(maybe just one star – as a feature – hanging on the wall – with 2 inch half square triangles)
Oh and by the by, check out this divine Eric Carle Hungry Caterpillar fabric – must have some of this or else.

black for patti

(now that I’ve discovered black I must have this quilt – it’s on fire!)

Accent: colonial english picked up from primary schooling in Malaysia

Breakfast or no breakfast: oh my goodness yes, I’m starving by then – pancakes, toast, eggs, bacon, museli, whatever’s going as long as it’s with coffee.
Chore I don’t care for: washing windows
Dog or Cat: grew up with cats but allergic to them, have Simon the cavoodle whom we all adore

monkton planted these

(i think Monkton planted these near the trout stream)

Essential Electronics: couldn’t be happy without laptop and kitchenaid mixer – well, less happy!
Favorite Cologne: Calvin Klein’s Eternity – completely sucked in by the dreamy ads – and nice florally fragrance
Gold or Silver: gold, especially rose, but also fond of silver when paired with my favourite amber.

oh the intensity

(this is what my brain looks like – it certainly feels like it!)

Handbag I carry most often: plain-jane red despite all the hip ones my mother keeps giving me ;-)
Insomnia: never – I fall asleep in seconds.
Job Title: mother with a touch of boarding mistress
Kids: gorgeous girl, 10
red and white

(this is soooooo coooool – maybe next week)

Living Arrangements: tumbledown house (circa 1920s) with a creaky floor, not enough room and no wardrobes (staircase too steep and windy!)
Most Admirable Trait: the patience to read to my little girl for hours and hours on end
Naughtiest Childhood Behavior: painting the outside wall of our house in Malaysia because it looked dirty – I was not allowed to go to a birthday party being held that afternoon and my sister was, despite being an enthusiastic helper, because she was little and I was big and should have known better!

colour wheel

(i’m thinking colourwheel effect – next week, after I finish the one above ;-))

Overnight hospital stays: so many for asthma, pneumonia, whooping cough etc. that it’s boring – except for the whooping cough in 1977 when Elvis died and all the nurses were crying and I was cross because no one came back to get the thermometer so I broke it!
Phobias: hideously claustrophobic – have had to walk blocks for Julian and Little A to pick me up because I could not get into the shopping centre lift to get to the car. Then there was the day I had to do a 30 point turn when I realised they’d made the tunnel into another carpark longer and I couldn’t see the end of it …. actually maybe I’m carpark phobic – definitely stairwell phobic and a little bit lift phobic, and aeroplane phobic …
Quote: “You can keep your willpower frog, I’m going home to bake a cake.” I have none.

sampler

(hey!  let’s make this sampler – who wants to join me?)

Reason to smile: my lovely life.
Siblings: one little sister – she lives in Vancouver, Canada. It’s a bit fraught – remember, she is the little sister and I am the big one who should know better ;-)

Time I wake up: soon after the sun but like to stay in bed and read or stitch or knit … or read blogs.
Unusual Talent or Skill: good at stripping paint, putting together an IKEA bookshelf in under 10 minutes and can play the oboe.

this has my name on it

(this has MY NAME on it – isn’t this gorgeous – definitely next week!)

Vegetable I Refuse to Eat: can’t think of any
Worst Habit: i hate making phone calls and will put it off and put it off and put it off …
X-rays: lots of chest x-rays but not for years and years

are they trees or critters

(are these trees or critters from a Japanese anime? – this will be on the table for Christmas)

Yummy Stuff: so much – bacon, rice pudding, anything roasted, fresh warm bread and butter, german doughnuts, and all washed down with a glass of full cream milk – I like food!
Zoo Animal I Like Most: meer cats – I love how they stand up so straight, with their beady eyes on the lookout for danger and manic intensity – bit like me.

ooooh pretty!

(one day ….)
