the chinese coins are finished - and a little giveaway …
Weeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I’ve finished my first quilt for the year!

My Chinese Coins Quilt with a green, spring flavour is ready for Calamity Kim’s Doll Quilt Challenge.
The colours are looking a lot more subdued on photo than they are in reality - it is yet another grey, rainy morning in the Sunshine State.
Never mind - here’s my carrots - madly in love with them …

… they are wool carrots and felt leaves, naively appliqued and embellished with dmc thread.
Here’s my eggs - yum …

… they too are wool and I am really pleased how they poofied up.
And check out my mitred corners! Sorry to sound so boastful, but this is the first time I have made proper binding and mitred the corners - and it worked!

I even tried my hand at some free hand quilting (see, it’s the wobbly bit up the middle green strip ;-) - it was working kind of cute - but I didn’t get very far …

When I become better at it - and not so pain-stakingly slow, I’ll revisit the Chinese Coins and do some more.
Thank you Calamity Kim for such a beautiful challenge - I cannot wait for the next one!
Now as a celebration for finishing a quilt - maybe this will become a tradition! - the first two comments left for this post, will receive a sweet quilted treat from the Tumbledown House.

What a precious little spring quilt! You are so very creative it just takes my breath away. People call me creative and I just say I copy well - can’t think of original designs at all. Isn’t working with wool just so much fun! When I was doing a bunch of Jan Patek quilts a couple years ago I used felted wool for any little applique details I didn’t want to try to needleturn. Gives the project such a great variety of textures!

Hello!
I produce a (mostly) quilt related podcast titled ‘within a quarter inch’ and I like to review blogs for (mostly) each (mostly) weekly episode.
I am a working mom of 16 month old twins and I just love to quilt and craft. This podcast is my little corner of sanity check and where I get to share my love of quilting with those who understand (as opposed to those in my ‘real’ life that pretend to understand!).
I am hoping for your permission to review your blog during one of my episodes. It’s a feature I call ‘blog of the pod’ and so far, the 2 (I said mostly!) I have reviewed were very pleased with the results.
Thanks for your kind attention,
Allison
