the day was grey and rainy

The day has drummed with much longed for rain. Now we are damp and cold and pleased to scurry home to our burrow, where it is at least a little drier.

We add the warmth and fragrance of freshly baked cookies.

We snuggle up on the sofa with a wonderful film that reminds me how important it is to let our children celebrate being children.

There’s new knitting to relish - a scarf for Julian to keep him warm during those long cold weeks he works in Melbourne. (It’s a Paton’s Tweed - a pretty bone/grey with lilac flecks).

And when the film has finished and Abigail’s reading, a new old knitting book of Nanny’s to pore over whilst I stir the stove top rice pudding. Aren’t these dolls delightful!
And yes, rice pudding is the perfect supper for a wet, wet evening :-)

What a perfect way to spend a wet, cold day. Yes, darling little dolls. My grandmother used to make THE most delicious tapioca pudding. Definintely appropriate for dinner. :o)

Julian is so lucky to get such a good scarf! The cookies look very yammy! I could come there to have coffee with you! Those little dolls are so cute!!! On Saturday we drive to Jyväskylä to see the handcraft fair there! I suppose to receive the book next week and forward it then to you… Have a nice weekend!
